What You Will Do
Data scientist will provides new solutions or drives improvements to business problems across a vast array of business, consumer and social scenarios such as: Automation, Customer engagement, Supply chain optimization, Predictive maintenance, Operational effectiveness, Workforce effectiveness, Fraud detection, Resource optimization etc. Key expectations from this role include:
- A strong foundation in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java is essential. Should be comfortable with coding, debugging, and testing.
- A solid understanding of linear algebra, calculus, probability theory, and statistics is critical to understand the underlying concepts of machine learning algorithms.
- Experience in data cleaning, data transformation, feature engineering, and data normalization. These tasks are essential to prepare data for machine learning algorithms.
- Familiarity with ML algorithms such as supervised learning, unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning and deep learning.
- The ability to visualize data is crucial in identifying patterns and trends in data. Experience with data visualization tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, and Tableau is essential.
- Good communication skills are essential to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and be able to identify and address issues that arise during the development process.
- Machine learning is a constantly evolving field, and developers need to be willing to learn new concepts, algorithms, and technologies to stay up-to-date.
- Knowledge of the specific domain where the machine learning model will be applied is crucial.
What You Need
- Experience of working across environments including cloud, on-premises and hybrid, multiple operating systems and through containerization techniques such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Elastic Container Service, and others
- Coding knowledge and experience in several languages: for example, R, Python/Jupyter, SAS, Java, Scala, C++, Excel, MATLAB, etc.
- Experience with database programming languages including SQL, PL/SQL, for relational databases and upcoming nonrelational databases such as NoSQL/Hadoop-oriented databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, and others.
- Experience with distributed data/computing tools: MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, Kafka, also MySQL, and so on
- Expertise in solving vision, text analytics, credit scoring, failure prediction, propensity to buy problems is preferable.
- Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: generalized linear model (GLM)/regression, random forest, boosting, trees, text mining, hierarchical clustering, deep learning, convolutional neural network (CNN), recurrent neural network (RNN), T-distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE), graph analysis, etc.
